JAPANESE INSPIRED LEIGH-ON-SEA GARDEN DESIGN

Grow a Friendly Space

Brief

The clients have recently purchased this detached property with large garden. They would like a simple and stylish design with a hot tub. Both clients work from home so the space needs to accommodate two garden offices. Provision for their dog is also required.

Solution

Directly outside the back door will be a large area of composite decking which steps down on the right-hand side. The slightly lower section of decking will feature a bespoke outdoor kitchen in the corner and a louvre vented black aluminium pergola to provide some privacy and shade. To the left-hand side of the garden will be a shed clad with Japanese style charred softwood timber boards. To the front of the decking in line with the bifold doors will be a planting bed containing a black aluminium feature wall with water cascade, positioned to create an unusual and eye-catching focal point from within the house.

A decked pathway will run down the right-hand side of the garden past a central lawn to a further decked patio adjoining the raised section at the back of the space. This path will feature a series of three Japanese style round metal archways to provide a sense of drama on the journey down the garden. The raised area at the rear will house two garden offices accessed by decking steps leading from the decked patio below. The planting scheme will take inspiration from Japanese gardens and focus on foliage with a green and white colour palette.
