Modern Garden Design Presentation

A smart and practical front garden

garden design

Brief

This front garden design is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. It needs to provide safe access to the busy main road outside the property, accommodate several vehicles in front of the house and allow easy pushchair-friendly access from street to front door.

Solution

This front garden is currently bordered by brick wall down both side boundaries. A new brick wall to match the existing will be built along the front boundary, with wide automated wooden gates for vehicular access to the left hand side and a smaller pedestrian gate in the centre of the boundary. A mature Portuguese laurel hedge will be planted along the inside face of the front boundary wall to provide additional privacy.

A flush planting bed along the left hand boundary will contain mixed cornice (boxwood) planting while the right hand boundary will accommodate a variety of herbaceous and evergreen planting. An amelanchier tree will add height to the space. The flooring in the space will be predominantly gravel on a stabilising hexagonal cell substrate, with a random pattern ebony cloud schist pathway from gate to front door. The front windows will be framed with planting beds containing box hedging with lavender infill.
