BRIEF

These clients have lived in the property for several years but have made little use of the tired garden to date. The brief is to create an attractive and more use able space with better access and flow between levels.

DESCRIPTION

The existing footprint of the space will remain the same, with decking installed in the upper terrace outside the backdoor. This decking will extend across the whole width of the back of the house.

The void beneath the extended deck will be used for storage and accessed via doors in the side return. The deck will feature an inbuilt decked seat with storage trunks underneath to store cushions.

An olive tree, planted in a soft pink fibreglass container will add height and colour to this area. A foldaway table and chairs can also be easily stored in the space to avoid cluttering it up.

Stainless steel tension wire balustrade will provide a barrier that is light and airy and unobtrusive.

A gated stairway will lead down to the middle terrace. The stairway will be left unclad on the side to allow for planting underneath.The middle terrace will be paved in cream porcelain tiles bordered by planting beds, This area will also feature an artificial green wall to really make the most of this courtyard area.

A large sofa and fire pit will allow for entertaining and relaxing. The bottom terrace will be laid with hard wearing artificial lawn to provide an area for children and dogs to play. It will be accessed by a decked stairway running parallel to the house (also gated).

Large fibreglass tank planters filled with bamboo will be installed along the back fence to provide height and screening from the houses beyond. To the left of the space will be a Wendy house/shed area for, whilst the area to the right and under the stairs will be given over for canine activity. An outdoor blackboard wall will allow further possibilities for children to play.
