Front Garden Design Essex
GARDEN DESIGN ESSEX
BRIEF
DESCRIPTION
Their solution was to coat the entire house exterior with very dark grey Farrow and Ball ‘Railings’. Everything was painted the same colour, including the fascia, window frames, porch and front door, to create a uniform frontage where no one feature took centre stage. They used planting to create a contrast to the backdrop of the house, with green foliage really popping out against the black. The existing block paving was replaced with new sawn grey sandstone, and the faded original black-and-white Victorian pathway was replaced with almost identical new tiles.
Corten steel effect fibreglass planters were used as a divide along the boundary with the neighbour’s garden, planted with pleached Hornbeam to add height and drama, especially when defined by uplighters at night. A multi stemmed Silverbirch in a 1m square planter by the front door provides afocal point, as the light, variegated bark really stands out against a black background.
