BRIEF
The client wanted a design that connects the inside and exterior of the property to create an attractive space suitable for year round use.
Entertaining is important to the client, so they wanted provision for seating, dining and alfresco cooking.
The front garden needs an overhaul with secure bike storage and somewhere to keep the wheelie bins tidy and hidden.
DESCRIPTION
A large patio, laid with wood effect porcelain planks and large beige porcelain slabs, wraps around the back of the house. The tiles are laid on a diagonal to the house, to create interest and make the garden appear wider. Along the side return the clients existing acer is framed by a piece of street art to spice up the boundary, alongside a WWOO outdoor concrete kitchen to enable alfresco entertaining. A feature wall clad with metro-style tiles forms the backdrop for a contemporary slatted hardwood bench to create a stylish seating/dining area. A simple timber pergola with a rusted steel bar canopy adds some height and a sense of privacy and enclosure to the space.
Flush planting beds to the front of the paving feature a mixture of Corten steel decorative screens, large planting pots and architectural salvage to create focal points throughout the space. A second patio towards the rear of the garden allows for outdoor sofa style furniture to make the most of the sunniest part of the garden. The planting scheme focuses on a background of evergreen shrubs for texture and form, with splashes of red and copper blooms.
