This client contacted us looking for some square garden design ideas. He lived in a property in a suburban area of Leigh-on-Sea and wanted to create a space that was functional and attractive for all the family to enjoy.

Square garden design ideas – boxing it in

Katrina suggested creating large curbs across the space to help get away from the boxed in nature. This is a great solution for some square garden design idea. Including a water feature would provide a focal point next to the house. An elliptical lawn gives plenty of space for children to play, but with a second lawn behind a central planting bed, play equipment can be hidden out of sight.

For the kids

The back left hand corner of the space will feature a large tepee for the children and adults to enjoy. Coupled with an outdoor blackboard, and a pergola over the seating area. This allows adults and children to have fun in equal measure. The pergola is able to provide a pickup point for a swing or hammock.

The client went on to commission a square garden design idea package, which included 3-D visuals, planting plan and a scale plan.
