BRIEF
The client would like a design that provides space for relaxion and to grow her own gardening, with an area dedicated to the memory of her late husband.
The large conifers and brick building at the rear of the garden to be removed to create more space. A covered pergola is desirable to allow for outdoor dining and entertaining. The client also requires raised beds for ease of access.
DESCRIPTION
This garden features several areas for relaxing and entertaining. The layout of the space is oriented on a 45 degree angle to the house to make the garden seem wider. A large patio directly outside the back door features an aluminium pergola with a louvred awning. To the right of this area, a raised planter clad in glazed London Underground style tiles creates an elegant focal point. A pathway laid with large format porcelain tiles leads beneath timber arches to a central courtyard style patio comprising a grid of porcelain slabs with decorative aggregate surround.
Railway sleeper raised beds and a potting shed allows the client plenty of scope to grow their own vegetables and plants. A bench seat nestled between the beds provides a space to enjoy the garden in the sunniest spot. The planting scheme has a predominantly claret and blue colour palette in memory of the client’s late husband who was a keen supporter of West Ham United Football Club.
